Can the Seattle Seahawks “12th man” set a new world record for noise?

If you’re a football fan (that is American football sometimes called “Grid Iron” in other countries) then you have no doubt heard about the newest, fiercest  rivalry in the NFL between last years Superbowl runner-up The San Francisco 49ers and The much hyped, ever improving  Seattle Seahawks.

These two teams are both lead by 2 of the most exciting new style read option quarterbacks in Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson respectively.  Among insiders it’s increasingly being said that these two may actually lead the best two teams in the NFL this season, and they both happen to compete in the NFC West conference. This is not a distinction that the NFC west is known for by the way.

What you might not know is that the Seattle fans are attempting to break a world record for the loudest stadium at CenturyLink Field in today’s game between these two smash mouth style juggernauts. According to The Guinness Book of World Records the current record holder is a stadium in Turkey during a soccer match which measured 131.76 decibels. It will be no easy feat to topple this record, but the fans in Seattle consider themselves amongst the loudest, most raucous  fans on the planet. If this identity holds true then securing this record is a real possibility.

Don’t forget that on January 8, 2011 during Marshawn Lynch’s infamous 67 yard “Beast Mode” run against the New Orleans Saints that the stadium got so loud that it actually registered seismic activity. We’ll need some of that fire today. Another couple “Beast Mode” runs wouldn’t hurt either.

If you’re able to make it to the game you can employ a little trick play of your own to help get the record. Yep you guessed it… THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT!!!

Check out these apps for both Android and iPhone:

Air Horn Sound

Yes these are “legal” to use according to the Guinness guidelines ie  “any external instruments may be used by spectators to assist in generating a louder volume.”

Good luck to the Seattle Seahawks and good luck to the 12th Man. It should be an exciting game.

I think the stadium is built to set a record like this, but I’m not sure they’ll have enough bodies to make it happen. But who knows, Seattle fans are crazy!

They are expecting 67,000 fans. I agree as to if they’ll have enough people. Actually there are tons of San Franciso fans here. I flew back into town yesterday, and the flight was packed with 49ers fans so they obviously travel well too.
