Temple Grandin|The World Needs All Kinds of Minds

I decided to make this my first post of 2014. This short talk is centered around the Aspergers and/or Autistic mind and how these minds are both different and necessary. I personally have struggled with some of the effects of autism but at the same time there have been just as many times when I’ve found this condition’s effects an asset to  me. I don’t see it as a disorder or something negative like a lot of people do. I see it as a condition that hasn’t been studied enough in order for teachers, mentors and instructers to know how to effectively teach to this type of mind. As Temple points out the spectrum is vast, and no one experiences all of the effects in quite the same way.

Thanks to Temple and to TedTalks for giving her and people like her a forum to be heard.

Thanks for your support Brendan. I’m really interested in reading your book. Slightly off topic I don’t know if you’re a hip hop fan but one of my favorite emcees Vinnie Paz of “Jedi Mind Tricks” just releases a powerful song about his struggles with the spectrum. Let me know what you think:
