Canon “Play” aims to make you a better photographer.

Canon Play website

It appears that Canon certainly believes that it has a vested interest in making their users better photographers. Hence the website simply called “Play”. It’s a pretty facile idea really, you simulate taking photos, change camera settings, shoot again and compare. It’s the same process photographers have been doing for years but now Canon has removed the hassle of actually going to the studio or leaving the house. I guess at the very least you save wear and tear on your camera gear.

This is a tool that will be useful to beginners and those that are still a little too afraid to take their cameras off “P mode.” Canon’s actually made it fun and installed a learning mode as well as a challenge mode. Check it out here and let us know what you think.

I think this tool could truly help people visualize some of the differences in say things like depth of field, shooting modes and exposure. As well as how and why to use said settings.
