The Gap by Ira Glass

I’ve heard variations of this idea from a number of sources and I think that it’s absolutely true.

An additional comment that I have is that even as your work starts to approach “being good” I believe that your taste and/or your desire for your work’s perfection grows as well. So, while you may be able to significantly shrink the gap, I think it’s important to still maintain a desire to see your work get better no matter what level you’re at.
